Italy mobilizes against nuclear energy

Silvio Berlusconi and his ruling right-wing coalition are working to block a citizen's referendum that would repeal the decision of the Berlusconi government to return to nuclear energy production on the peninsula. Italy has not produced nuclear energy since 1990 and recent polls indicate that more than 75% of Italians are opposed to nuclear power.

Ragnatela market and concert moved to Sagarote the 24th

The Ragnatela eco-sustainable market, which was to be held at the Carcere dell'Impresa on the 24th June, is instead taking place at Arcipelago Sagarote. Also the concert of La Luna Sotto l'Albero del Carrubo has been moved to the same location.

A Sculpted House

HANDS-ON WORKSHOP TO BUILD A HOUSE FROM EARTH AND STRAW ~ At Arcipelago Sagarote, a workshop for the realization of a ‘sculpted’ house is underway: an open worksite where one can learn to build such a structure in synergy with the environment and others working with you. The building method used is that of COB, which uses mason of kneaded soil with straw that is then put in a cool place, a typical practice in the hills of Abruzzo. The soil is pounded with the help of the donkeys that live at the Arcipelago.

About 65% of CO² emissions come from autos. In Italy the level of motor-vehicle usage is unfortunately very high – there are 598 autos for every 1000 inhabitants.

Here in the South of Italy we are developing and implementing projects of self-sufficiency and “autogestione” based on principles of respect for diversity and ecological sustainability. We are interested in fomenting real change now through projects of cultural symbiosis and exchange that move beyond the current constructs of charred-earth policies and models. It might not be too late for ours and countless other species, though the destructive race to consume seems like an unstoppable train.
